I have often thought of writing a book titled "The art of doing nothing" and now seems the perfect time to gather material for its first chapter "The joy of being on bench". Each day as i lazily (ASAP - As slow as possible) get ready to goto office , my heart is filled with such joy and i'm filled with unimaginable amount of zeal about the prospect of idling in and around office , chit chatting and ultimately doing nothing . (Such amount of zeal has never been felt for any project)
There's no other time in a software professionals life that he/she waits for so eagerly .I have often said and heard such dialogues "Yaar , i'm so tired working 20 hrs , i just wish i were on bench" .Or "Gosh , he's such a lucky fella , bench at onsite too".
All those years I have been secretly envying all those privileged people who have been granted such an opportunity to be in a state as comfy as possible and used to ask myself , friends and even GOD "Mera number kab aayega?"
But my time is finally here , i have finally known how delightful it can be .
There can be unlimited benefits of being on bench , like you can enhance your technical skills in Messengers , mails , orkutting and any other form of "networking and communication". (Networking while Not-working ).You can enjoy your afternoon nap without the fear of being caught and having to make lame excuses as "i wasn't aleep , i was thinking about the project".
Most important , it falls perfectly in line with "the art of doing nothing".
So friends wish you happy benching too , i would stop typing now , this blogging is making my fingers work which doesnt quite agree with the rules of a non- working bench .
